Landscape Design
Projects
I work with an eclectic mix of clients from San Francisco to the Monterey Bay, from large and small yards needing “just a touch up” to “raze it all and start over.”
I've selected a mix of my current favorite projects to give you an idea of my work. "Before" shots are in the left column. "After" shots are in the right.

Los Gatos Hills
This couple wanted a landscape refresh in time to host their daughter's wedding shower. The property is stunning, with a commanding view of the Silicon Valley. It just needed some updating to get it party ready.

The goals for the project were to create a more welcoming entrance, update the materials, improve the traffic flow, expand the entertainment space and enhance the view.

We added color and movement to the edge of the garden space with perennials and grasses to frame – and not block – the view.
The front path retaining wall was replaced and moved back and the trees were heavily trimmed up to create a lighter, more spacious and welcoming entryway.
Soquel Reboot
A long-neglected yard was in dire need of a makeover. The end result: a lush patio and flower-filled front entry that are now the envy of the neighborhood.

Because the property backs up to a green space, with all the lawn one could ever ask for, the owner and I decided to take advantage of the open feeling and create a private patio that overlooked the area's comings and goings.

We maximized and defined the patio with a short, open fence, and then created a large entertainment space with aggregate concrete. To provide the lush feeling the owner wanted, around the edges we planted grasses, shrubs, edibles, perennials and tropicals. Finally, we added a water feature to bring in the birds and butterflies and topped the patio with two eye-catching shade sails.

In the front, we added a pathway so guests no longer need to skirt along the edge of the driveway. Then we filled the area with colorful plants and succulents, to keep the front clean, welcoming and easy to maintain.
Los Gatos Estate
A gorgeous hillside property needed some finishing touches to make it “home” for a family with two small children.

Shade arbors; a play area; curved and rock retaining walls; a vegetable garden; eye-appealing deer fencing; a revamped front entrance; bountiful, colorful drought-tolerant plants, and more were added to this property to create the entertaining and family mecca these owners desired.
Cupertino
A dated yard and a remodel spurred this client to start from scratch with his yard redesign.

To achieve the modern look the owner wanted, we established a rectangular design with contemporary plantings, which carried from the front yard to the back and even included the driveway.
The backyard was redesigned for parties, with a large lawn area, privacy screening from the neighbors and the crowning glory: a koi pond built into the new patio.
Los Gatos Treasure
This 1930s treasure needed pathway, driveway, and patio upgrades.

To visually tie the new hardscape to the house, we incorporated brick accents throughout. The new patio and pathways in back are quarry stone outlined in brick, and the expanded driveway/patio is accented and lined with brick as well.
We widened the front walkway and reset it with the original bricks to create a more welcoming and stable entry.
And both sets of stairs – front and back – are now clad in brick to tie it all together.
